Trinidad and Tobago regularly experience natural hazards such as flooding (most common), earthquakes, landslides, and a number of other meteorological and geophysical events. During these events, information on impassable roads, flooded areas, and other real-time information can be scarce.
TTWC now has several platforms for information to reach your devices. We’ve created groups on WhatsApp and Telegram in which we disseminate important alerts that are utilized 24/7. Note that the information posted in these groups will be no different than the information posted on our website, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter feed. The same information will always be posted in all groups, so there is no need to join more than one. Because WhatsApp limits its group size to 256, we urge you only to join one group.
Another important note is that this service only allows administrators to post information. If you are wanting to submit your own photos, videos and information, feel free to contact the group administrators directly.
Lastly, a rule of all groups and a common courtesy: most users are in the group for getting information. Do not contact other members you do not know within the group privately, or you will be removed from the group and will be banned.
Note that these links may change from time to time, and additional groups may appear depending on demand.
