“The potential for impactful weather associated with the passage of the Tropical Wave and the ITCZ has reduced significantly. As a result, the Adverse Weather Alert is being discontinued. However, showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible over the next two days.” according to the TTMS.

The 61st tropical wave of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season is now well west of Trinidad and Tobago and most of the activity trailing the wave, in addition to the ITCZ, has subsided. A tropical update will be posted later today as Tropical Wave 62 is forecast to bring showers and thunderstorms to the islands this weekend.

Tropical waves typically have fair weather ahead of the wave axis, though other features in the area such as surface troughs, increased atmospheric moisture, and local climatic effects, to name a few, may trigger showers and the odd thunderstorm. Following the passage of the wave, much of the active weather typically associated with a tropical wave occurs.
