30 WASA Facilities Affected Following Invest 91L’s Passage

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising the public that following Wednesday’s heavy rainfall across the country, multiple water facilities have been affected.

According to a media release on Wednesday evening, WASA said, “Heavy rainfall today has impacted operations at some of the Authority’s Surface Water Treatment facilities in the Northern Region and Parts of Tobago.”

The following Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) are experiencing reduced production or have been stopped due to high turbidity as a result of flooded river conditions.

However, a wide swath of South, Central, and North Trinidad will also experience a disruption in the water supply as the Caroni Water Treatment Plant has scaled back production. According to WASA, this disruption is due to “flooded river conditions and clogged screens currently being experienced at the raw water intake of the facility due to the passage of the Invest 91L.”
