Adverse Weather Alert information from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service

The TTMS states, “The threat of impactful weather has significantly reduced. Atmospheric conditions are, however, still minimally supportive of occasional showers. In the event of heavy downpours, minor localized flooding along smaller river courses may still result. Larger watercourses remain contained. The risk of landslides or landslips in vulnerable areas has reduced; however, it still exists due to saturated soils.”

This “alert” status considers the possibility of the event ending, with the certainty at its lowest, at unlikely, which is likely an error from the TTMS’ alert. Discontinuations and green-level alerts have historically been issued with a likelihood at very likely/observed or likely.

The Met Office advises residents near river courses, as well and those in areas prone to landslides or landslips are advised to remain vigilant and continue to monitor weather conditions
