As of 8:00 AM Monday 6th May 2019, mostly hazy skies are occurring across Trinidad and Tobago. A few isolated showers favoring Eastern Trinidad are occurring. Breezy conditions are forecast across both islands, with hazy skies throughout Monday. Additional isolated showers are possible across Eastern Trinidad and Tobago throughout the day. Wind gusts up to 45 KM/H possible.
Throughout Monday, mostly hazy skies with partly cloudy conditions are forecast across Trinidad and Tobago. Isolated showers, resulting from low-level cloud patches are forecast to traverse the region. These patches are forecast to bring some isolated showers to eastern parts of Trinidad and Tobago mainly. Wind gusts up to 45 KM/H possible.
Saharan dust is present in mild concentrations across Trinidad and Tobago, and is forecast to remain in place over the next two weeks.
Overnight, mostly hazy and settled conditions are forecast to persist. The odd isolated shower is possible, favoring yet again, eastern parts of Trinidad.
Generally gentle to fresh breeze is forecast (12-38 KM/H) for Monday mainly from the east. However, wind gusts in the range of moderate to strong wind are possible (20-45 KM/H) across Trinidad and Tobago in the vicinity of showers.
With wind gusts up to 45 KM/H, whole trees can be in motion and there may be some inconvenience when walking against the wind gusts. Light outdoor objects may topple or become airborne such as garbage cans, loose galvanize or construction material and other outdoor furniture. Tents may jump. Winds are forecast to lessen as the weekend progresses.
Looking towards Tuesday and Wednesday, fluctuations in Saharan Dust is forecast keeping hazy skies in place. Isolated showers are forecast to remain moving across parts of Eastern Trinidad and Tobago, an increase in low-level moisture Wednesday through Friday may raise chances of showers and cloudy skies.
Last night’s minimum temperatures were 25°C at Piarco, Trinidad, and 27°C at Crown Point, Tobago. Tonight’s minimum temperatures are forecast to be near 25°C at Piarco, Trinidad, and 26°C at Crown Point, Tobago.
Today’s maximum high temperatures across T&T is forecast to be near 33°C at Piarco, Trinidad and 31°C at Crown Point, Tobago. Similar temperatures are forecast through the next three days, with maximum high temperatures forecast to be near 33°C at Piarco, Trinidad, and 31°C at Crown Point, Tobago. Heat indices may top at 36-38°C at Piarco, Trinidad and 33-35°C at Crown Point, Tobago. The heat index is an index that combines air temperature and relative humidity, generating a “feel’s like” temperature.
Seas are forecast to remain moderate in open waters through the week. Waves in open waters are forecast up to 2.0 meters, particularly East of Trinidad and Tobago over the next 24 hours. In sheltered areas, seas are forecast to remain smooth, below 1.0 meters. Winds will be from the east through the next day or so at 15-20 knots from the east, reducing to 10-15 knots for much of the week.
Mild Saharan Dust Present Across Trinidad and Tobago
Saharan Dust concentrations are mild across Trinidad and Tobago on Monday. Mild concentrations are forecast to linger for at least the next two weeks, with some fluctuations. An increased concentration of dust is forecast to arrive across T&T by the weekend.
