1:45PM Friday 11th January 2019: Isolated Showers Due to Low Level Clouds Through Weekend, Interrupting a Hazy, Mostly Sunny Weekend Across T&T.
Low level clouds, resulting to convergence on the western side of a ridge of high pressure in the Central Atlantic, are moving across Tobago, bringing isolated moderate to heavy showers across the island.
Mostly sunny and hazy conditions are occurring across Trinidad.
Over the weekend, mostly sunny and hazy conditions are forecast with the odd isolated shower due to low-level clouds moving across the islands. These showers will be brief.
Skies are likely to remain hazy as a number of wild/bush fires occur throughout the weekend. In addition, mild amounts of Saharan dust are present across the Eastern Caribbean, including Trinidad and Tobago, reducing the air quality to moderate levels.
Over the next several days, very little rainfall accumulation is likely, less than 5 mm possible across areas of Eastern Trinidad and little to trace accumulations elsewhere.
Maximum temperatures are forecast to be 30°C across both islands. Lows are expected to be 21-23°C across Trinidad and Tobago through Monday. Interior parts of the islands may see temperatures dip below 20°C.
Seas, until Thursday, will be moderate with waves up to 2.0 meters in open waters, and less than 1.0 meter in sheltered areas. E winds are expected, between 15-20 knots.
