Slight To Moderate Seas Forecast Over Next Week

Over the next seven days, no hazardous seas are forecast to impact T&T’s coastlines, with mainly slight to moderate seas in our open waters.

Low-level winds are forecast to remain generally gentle to fresh, at times becoming strong from the east to northeast through the next week.

Spring Tides are ongoing from November 28th through December 3rd 2020 so higher than usual high tides and lower than usual low tides are forecast.

There are no alerts, watches, or warnings in effect from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service at this time.

Forecast Discussion

From Sunday 29th November through Wednesday 2nd December 2020, waves are forecast to be generally slight to moderate in Trinidad (1.0 to 1.5 meters) and moderate in Tobago (1.5 to 2.0 meters) in open waters.

In sheltered areas across both islands, seas are forecast to be well below 1.0 meter and mostly calm except during possible heavy shower or thunderstorm activity.

From Thursday through Saturday, waves across both islands’ open waters are forecast to be generally below 1.5 meters and near calm in sheltered areas.

Long-period swells are not forecast to be a major issue over the next week, with swell periods between 6-10 seconds from the east to northeast through Thursday and 9-11 seconds from the north Friday into Saturday.

Through the forecast period, prevailing winds are forecast to remain below 15 knots, at times below 10 knots from the east to northeast.

Impacts on T&T’s Shorelines

There are no major impacts to T&T’s shores over the next seven days. In fact, sea and weather conditions are forecast to be great for beach and boating activities.
