The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has updated the Adverse Weather Alert Yellow Level on Monday morning at 10:59 AM, which was in effect at 11:00 PM Sunday 16th August 2020 and now will remain in effect through 11:00 AM Tuesday 18th August 2020.

Trinidad and Tobago is not under any tropical storm watch or warning at this time.

A combination of the ITCZ and the passage of a tropical wave continues to produce periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms over various locations. This can result in street/flash flooding and gusty winds in some areas. While there may be lulls in the showery activity it is expected to peak at times during the nighttime (Monday 17th August) and predawn hours (Tuesday 18th August).” according to the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service. This “alert” status takes into account the possibility of the event occurring. This adverse weather event is likely.

The color of the alert indicates the severity of the event and the probability of the event occurring. Currently, the alert level is at Yellow. This means that the hazard is possible to be aware of the impacts of Street/Flash Flooding and Gusty Winds in your area. Areas prone to landslides should also be aware of the hazard and impacts.
