Live Updates: Inclement Weather Affects T&T

The passage of a tropical wave, a series of troughs, and the Intertropical Convergence Zone are forecast to bring adverse weather. Heavier rain is forecast to remain north and east of T&T. Over the last six to eight hours, heavier rainfall has affected Tobago and generally remained north of T&T, as forecast.

Periods of heavy rainfall may trigger street or flash flooding across both islands over the next several hours. TIncreased sustained winds, with wind gusts in excess of 45 KM/H are possible. Winds of this strength can cause power dips/outages, downed trees, and localized wind damage.

Frequent lightning may accompany thunderstorms. Landslides are possible across the Northern Range and Tobago.

Funnel clouds and waterspouts are possible mainly Friday through Saturday, with severe thunderstorms possible on Friday.

An Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) is in effect for T&T and surrounding marine areas from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service. This alert is in effect from 10:00 AM Friday through 6:00 PM Friday. Trinidad and Tobago is not under a tropical storm watch or warning.
