|Present La Soufrière Alert Level:||ORANGE||There is a highly elevated level of seismic and/or fumarolic activity or other unusual activity. An eruption may begin with less than twenty-four hours’ notice.|
The La Soufrière Volcano began explosively erupting at 8:41 AM on April 9th, 2021, with explosive eruptions concluding on April 22nd. Ashfall has affected several Windward Islands, including St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Barbados. The La Soufrière Volcano has produced dangerous pyroclastic flows and lahars.
The volcano’s alert level has been lowered to orange. Access to the volcano remains restricted and venturing to the volcano’s summit is extremely dangerous.
