Tropical Wave 02 Still East of T&T
Isolated Showers, Thunderstorms Possible Over Next 12-14 Hours
11:00 PM Tuesday 26th May 2020
Today’s forecast played out nearly as expected, with isolated showers developing by the late morning across Trinidad, producing brisk rainfall across the island. Additional brisk showers occurred across both islands throughout the day, interrupting hot and partly cloudy skies.
As of 10:00 PM, the axis of Tropical Wave 02 remains east of T&T. However, wind shear continues to limit shower and thunderstorm development this evening.
Models remain adamant for isolated thunderstorm development overnight through the first half of tomorrow with marginal mid- to upper-level support.
However, strong westerly wind shear and a warm pocket of air between 3,800 meters and 600 meters will not only limit convection from forming but any cells (showers or thunderstorms) that do develop, will be brief.
Shower and thunderstorm chances for tomorrow have decreased slightly, but there is still the possibility of isolated showers and the odd thunderstorm favoring Trinidad by the early to mid morning and again through the afternoon.
See here for more details.

Late Morning Isolated Showers Move Across Trinidad
10:30 AM Tuesday 26th May 2020
As of 8:00 AM, the axis of Tropical Wave 02 remains well east of Trinidad and Tobago, along 57W, south of 18N. No significant convection is noted with this tropical wave.
Brisk, isolated showers interrupted mostly cloudy skies across Trinidad Tuesday morning, with wind gusts up to 40 KM/H, mainly across the Western half of Trinidad. Rainfall accumulations from these brief showers have generally remained at or below 5 millimeters.
Isolated showers are forecast this morning through 3:00 PM, favoring Trinidad. Showers will be fuelled by abundant atmospheric moisture moving across the islands with sea-breeze convergence, daytime heating, and orographic effects triggering showers and isolated thunderstorms during the late morning through the afternoon.
